Message from the Head of the Department

The Department of Library and Information Science at Guru Nanak College, Budhlada, is dedicated to promoting academic excellence, research innovation, and professional competency in the field of Library and Information Science. The department offers M.Lib.I.Sc., B.Lib.I.Sc., and a Certificate Course in Library Automation, with the objective of equipping students with the knowledge and technological skills required to meet the evolving demands of the digital information society.

The department takes immense pride in its outstanding academic achievements, including university merit positions, gold medals, and the successful qualification of numerous students in the UGC NET/JRF examinations. Our alumni have secured prestigious positions as librarians in college, school, and public libraries, reflecting the quality and professional orientation of the programmes offered by the department. Several research scholars associated with the department are actively pursuing Ph.D. programmes at leading universities in Punjab.
